You must live in the present, launch yourself on every wave, find your eternity in each moment. Fools stand on their island opportunities and look toward another land. There is no other land, there is no other life but this.” ~Henry David Thoreau

"I got a Rock!"

When Atticus was close to 2 years old he was introduced to Charlie Brown. I have a photo somewhere of him with a broken arm in a blue cast and a Charlie Brown halloween costume on. He didn't really get the humor until around 4 and I remember this video is what made him almost have an asthma attack from laughing so hard. We enjoy just watching him watch Charlie Brown now because it makes us laugh (the inhaler is always near by)! He is hysterical! Watch the first video above and think of Atticus laughing hard each time Charlie Brown gets a rock!
Hope you don't get ROCKS this Halloween!

Halloween's Remembered...

1998 first Halloween married~ Peter Pan & Tink

My sister, Amelia, and I always got lots of Goodies even into our later teens! We became so professional that we would call friends & family ahead of time to see what they were giving out...so we didn't waste our time and so we could map it out! That's what you do when you don't have neighbors for miles.
One Halloween we gave out pizza and root beer, but we ended up calling cousins to come since we had ZERO trick or treaters!

Dad goes to work as a pirate!

The Lollipop Gang! Cozy (1 1/2) and friends from Chelan, Riley and Olivia.

Last year Atticus was Dracula! The blood and all! He was so in character!

Atticus age 2 as a dog!

Wait this wasn't Halloween, just a regular pirate dress up day with Mimi!

What to do with ribbon...

I realize some people feel accomplished when they do well on a test, run a really fast marathon or even do the dishes. I get my jollies from arts and crafts. I had a lot of inspiration in high school and some college when I would work late nights constructing life sized paper mache projects with chicken wire, inflate giant ants using taped together dry cleaner bags, painting my entire room a mural of the ocean while my mom was out of town....you get the point. I have had a lack of this creative flow for a while now. Back at my bare home in Chelan where strangers walk through my bathroom naked (I know, lovely image) I have this huge canvas painted only blue. I hope someday I can figure out what will go on that. Maybe a nude.... if only HE will pose! Until then I am left with "tiny" inspirations of creativity here and there.
So, here is one of the "tinys"....
I love ribbon and buy it for no reason just because it is pretty. Maybe genetic?! This is my version of organizing it in a free gymborree box cutting the circles and threading it through the holes. Free for me and free for you if you want a great easy way to store your holiday ribbon.

Weekend in Chelan

Two little skeletons jump 'in on the bed...

I love these jammies and always pass them up each halloween when I go to Gymboree. This year I decided that I wouldn't put it off! The kids love that they really glow in the dark and I love that they are good quality and will last until the heat of this summer!

This photo was taken in the dark with the flash. The kids were jumping on the bed and it looked like a bunch of skeleton bones flying around. Yes, I occasionally let the kids jump on my bed and eat popsicles in the bath!!

Phantom & Donuts!!

I realize that I hardly ever post photos of Benny... or of me for that matter (I am always behind the camera). So, below are some photos of our night out!
We went to Phantom of the Opera tuesday night! It was fun to see again! Benny had never seen it and it had been a long time for me (I think I have seen it in NY twice and then several times running a spotlight for it at City Rep in SL when I was 15). All in all, It was fun to go with someone who was seeing it for the first time!
We also went to a new downtown restaurant, Scratch. They make everything in the restaurant from "scratch". What you expect from any good restaurant, right? I have become the food critic by reading up on places and then trying them out. It was a three and a half star for me! The finishing touch was the bag of donut holes that came at the end. With three dipping sauces...carmel, chocolate ganache, and huckleberry. Some of you may know that I have a thing for donuts (Esp. maple bars!!) We, as a family, don't eat donuts but once a year...October! It is such a Fall/Halloween thing for me! I always sware I will never eat donuts again after one Krispy Kreme! Those just sit in your gut and grow! Anyhow, my problem is the "Tasty Donuts" maple bar that can only come from kaysville! I didn't even get around to getting one during our last trip there!! No worries....I'll be okay!!
Anyhow, we are trying hard to go out just the two of us with such a crazy schedule Benny has. We remember the days back in residency that we made it a rule to go out every friday even if it was for a walk or to sit in Starbucks and catch up! We hope we can continue that date night even here.....so far, so good!

What do you wear when you go out... & other kid-ish tales.

When it’s time to pick Atticus up from school Cozy insists on dressing up or bringing something odd to greet her brother. This activity has become pretty routine to me and so I haven’t thought anything of it until now. Benny was post-call yesterday (means home after being at the hospital for 24+ hr shift..he has been doing that every 2nd day ;( ) and HE thought it was interesting that when it was time to pick up Atticus, Cozy ran out the door with her jacket on backwards holding a large human body toy. She's 2, what do you expect, right?! I say, “Why fight that battle and be late, plus it gives some of the other parents something cute to look at!” So, no specific pictures (or I would really be late!), but I thought I would share with you a select few favs of her past greeting presentations…
~Orange spatula as a wand, dressed in a HUGE pink Tu-Tu (underwear, probably with a cute cheek hanging out…it’s Potty season at our house!).
~Winter boots on the wrong feet, shorts, and jacket on backwards.
~Doll stroller with spiderman baby teether as the “baby.”
~Wearing Atticus' glow in the dark skeleton pjs and moms Louis Vuitton handbag~ classic!

Some photos just for fun.....

Cozy with her own version of the hospital "baby nursery." She likes to give them shots!

A weird 80+ degree day and so of course Cozy wore the new dress from the SL market that Mimi got her to Atticus' golf practice.

We enjoy the "not so popular" sports. Soccer seems to be too over the top for me here, so Atticus enjoys golf lessons! This will come in handy one day with all his Uncles, "PA" and Daddy out in the humid Florida courses!! Atticus loves when one of the young high school instructors dresses in a sumo suit and lets the kids whack balls at him.

Kids Photos

When the kids and I took a road trip to my moms this summer I got in touch with a friend to have their photos taken. I wanted something less traditional with a lot of personality, expression, and capturing them playing rather than being posed. Dallas was the right one for the job! I have know him since playing cello in our high school orchestra and he has become a fav. family friend! These are just a select few...my favorite one of Atticus and his skeleton ring that he wears daily with a big dimple smile isn't pictured. Enjoy! Click here!
