You must live in the present, launch yourself on every wave, find your eternity in each moment. Fools stand on their island opportunities and look toward another land. There is no other land, there is no other life but this.” ~Henry David Thoreau

The 3 B's

Since I last wrote we have been super busy! After my girl friends came to visit, we went for a friday night to "winterize" the house in Chelan, had my cousin Bryn come for a few days, celebrated Benny's birthday, and now its thanksgiving and my mom and sister are here! WOW!
I just have to add some of the highlights of the past few weeks and then I will call it good....
~going to Coeur d'alene for an afternoon with Bryn, Benny, and Cozy (see photos below of our demo ride on the fun & fast motor-bike and the toy store carousel ride!)
~a date night out with Bryn as the sitter...we went to parent teacher conference (& starbucks) and sleep-deprived Benny started in on the meeting with
"Is my son smart or is he retarded?" Forrest Gump. I laughed about it the next day.
~ Taking brownies with little plastic babies on them to L&D for Benny's birthday!
~ Going to Melting Pot for Benny's Birthday and realizing that THAT MAN CAN EAT!...and later he snored ALL night!!
(I tried hard to get him to only order the cheese and dessert fondue...didn't work & ya know, it was his Birthday!!)
Good times! I guess that's about it!
Happy Thanksgiving to you all!!!

Country MICE visit the city.....

This past weekend I had friends come visit from Chelan!! One gal who had not been to a mall (Wenatchee doesn't count) in almost eight years, an experienced shopper from Seattle who has been out of practice for sometime, a desperate sixteen year old in heaven and texting most of the time, and myself(not a HUGE shopper, but happy to be free from kids)! So, Saturday the four women and a wee baby, who was an angel, spent the day shopping for 4.5 miles (Shannon had her pedometer on).
Okay, so everything or almost everything reminds me of a children's book, seriously it is the way my brain works (hence the title)! This weekend reminded me so much of the book "The country Mouse and the City Mouse" ~Obligado. If you don't own this book and have kids, it is classic you must get!
Three country girls and a baby looking up at the winding escalators at the mall in amazement and trying to find long forgotten streets that sparkle is hilarious to me!! It is also a wake up call to what I will soon miss in the city as I become another country gal!
This is the cheaters way to blogging events since I didn't take my camera along. Click this... cliff notes

AUTUMN LANE

I have been meaning to add this beautiful photo for a while now. I thought I'd do it before the leaves become wet and the snow hits.
Fall is one of my favorite seasons! I have fond memories of growing up in Utah and taking drives through the mountains to see the changing leaves. I don't think I could live in a place where a change in season isn't obvious from the colors of the leaves!
Everyday I pick up Atticus I get to drive through this neighborhood. I'm not sure what the actual street name is because the kids and I have named it to what it really should be...."Autumn Lane". The photo of course doesn't do justice, but click on it to get a better view! You really feel like your driving through a tunnel of yellow leaves.
I honestly am jealous of the people that live there and GET to rake up all of those leaves! I think I must get that from my Grandpa Harold! He also got his "kicks" from hard labor and as well from naming things to be his own. Anyone been to "Muddy Lane" lately?

Trick or treat, smell my feet, RUN AROUND THE TOILET SEAT!

Besides all of us (just the kids and me) being sick with the stomach flu and dad being passed out for 5 hours in bed, we had a great Halloween! We started the day sluggish and then by the afternoon we were ready to force ourselves into some fun!
We went to Atticus' school and went on an old-school parade around the 100 year old school. I later found out that Atticus' only-there-for-2-week school couldn't even dress-up!! Hmmm...blessings in disguise! Even on mom's favorite holiday! Is the principal a JW ?
At our house, the day after Halloween, the "CandyMan" comes and exchanges the bag of treats with a toy. We have to give credit to our friends the Jensen's for this idea. They have a Fairy visit them, but that didn't fly by Atticus (he doesn't believe in the tooth fairy and he is skeptical of Mr. Claus this year!). So, the CandyMan from Charlie & the C. factory picked up the candy for his store and left an Indiana Jones Mr. Potato Head and Cozy a Doctor kit to give pain to all her dolls! Saturday we spent the day staying close to the bathroom (not because of the endless treats!) and today we are feeling so much better and glad we don't have regrets about getting out for Halloween!! Here are some photos....

Trick or Treating with the Farr Family. Both Hubby's were either at work or asleep!
I gave the kids an option to do "Trick or Treating for Unicef" and Noah took it on and did a great job!
Here's a thought: If I had twin boys, one girl in-between, boy/girl twins next and then a 3 month old girl (hot dog) this is what it MAY look like. I would be in the Nut house for sure!
These kids are all tow-heads with big personalities and so dang cute!

Atticus as Indiana Jones and Cozy as Giselle from Enchanted (Ka-boom-a-bike)

Cozy's #2 lollipop for the day...end of the day we were at #10.

Atticus had been sick the day before, but somehow mid-afternoon on Friday he was well enough to go to his Halloween party at school. I couldn't keep him home, so I went to the party to make sure he was really okay. This is him with his buddy Aristotle. What a pair! Atticus and Aristotle? Notice the jeans. We had a great time gluing on snakes and spiders.

Mom was Pinkalicious. Dad was Sleepy.
