You must live in the present, launch yourself on every wave, find your eternity in each moment. Fools stand on their island opportunities and look toward another land. There is no other land, there is no other life but this.” ~Henry David Thoreau

The Magical Year?

I wanted to post some photos of Benny and Matt last night with all there gear ready for their 4 day hike, but I guess they took the camera. They were packed up with all sorts of stuff not really knowing what to expect. They have ice axes (which makes me nervous), crampons (these are spikes that you tie on your shoes, Matt was REALLY excited about them...from Florida, go figure), rain gear, snowshoes, etc. They will be traveling from the north going south through the cascades and winding up in Stehekin on Thursday and then a 2 hr. boat ride to Chelan.
In the meantime I am here with the kids to entertain to the fullest and hope I don't go nuts and if I do I will spend the weekend at the local spa by myself. We started off this morning with Atticus rambling on about his plans to make an amusement/water park. This has been on the plans for the last week. Cozy and I just listen in wonder!! He has put me in charge of the "slim and 6" ride which is a workout video I do each morning. I will run that ride along with a food stand. There is also a "Ben 10" ride, an "Elmo's world" double tube water slide, and of course Mimi will be heading the "Egyptian Mummy" ride. This so much reminds me of Greg and his "Harold land" or "Water world." It must be the age. Benny told me he read somewhere that these are the Magical years. I think they are the non-stop talking years!
Anyhow, we have plans for the next few days to get together with other kids and moms, swim, watch videos, and paint the front door purple (surprise?!).
Any other suggestions?? Because remember....I am all EARS!!

Anything goes when Dad puts the Kids to bed!

Dad does an awesome job at getting kids ready for bed, but I always have to laugh when I find the things Cozy gets to sleep with. This morning I went in to get her and she was just so happy to have slept with moms purse!

The saga continues...

Update on the Leg.....
Uncle Matt had a great time taking photos of this past mondays after school event. Atticus had x-rays to see if he could get a walking boot. The brake was still not healed and so he got another cast, but below the knee. (This is 3 casts not including the one on his arm when he was little!) When I took him to school I think everyone thought he could walk with this one..... still no weight on it until at least 2 weeks. This contines to be a long ordeal, but Atticus is doing great!!

Kindergarten graduation...

Mrs. La Mar, his teacher, and the Fam.

Atticus in his wheel chair (2 more weeks, we hope!)

Cozy with some of Atticus' friends! The class was 5 girls to 10 boys!

Matt D. gives a thumbs up to the grad.

Family Photos??...Ya, right!

Benny and I found this cool truck up on a hill side over looking the lake. We thought it would be a great place for the family photo that has been long over due. We realize in 2 months that our world is going to be crazy (Spokane=fellowship) and a family photo will be totally impractical.
So, it was a perfect time with the sun setting, but the kids were near tears by the time we got going. Maybe tomorrow we'll get some better ones?
FYI~You have to click on it to really get a good view at us crying with Atticus.

One more Tooth pulled out & CARS!

~The "boys" did a repeat night and got the second tooth out!

~Chelan Cruis'in Car Show.

The Resorters are slowly coming to town! We spent Saturday morning at the Chelan airport looking at old small aircraft and down town where they blocked off main street for an old car festival. Cozy and I enjoyed mainly the cute dogs that were out and the boys loved the classic cars. The Dukes of Hazard General Lee was a favorite! Atticus was carried around like a prince thanks to Matt (he hates the fact that he has to share the double baby stroller with his 2 year old sister)!

Men are from MARS !

Last night after putting Cozy down I could hear Atticus,Benny and Uncle Matt plotting something in the other room. I went in to find that they were trying to figure out how to pull out Atticus' dangling tooth. I figured, like a mom would, that he had been through enough trauma with his leg so I wasn't going to stay & watch and support it. This is all about being a boy.....finding "tough" things to entertain yourself and your friends with so you can then feel more tough. It's so different from girls where we gets our thrills in groups by getting pedicures, reading trashy people magazines, exchanging top secret recipes or just hanging out together (you know who you are). Our activities would never be trying to inflict pain on ourselves or others we love. I guess men are really..." from mars and women from venus." (good book!)
So, it finally came out when they decided to attach a heavy playmobil dragon toy to the end of the dental floss. Atticus was distracted and let go of the toy and the weight pulled the tooth right out. By the way, Atticus was not being influenced by the older boys too much, but was enjoying the attention and had ideas of his own.
I told Matt and Benny they were on night patrol if Atticus were to get up crying in the night. He got up twice to Matt who found him the second time looking under his pillow for the golden dollar coin the tooth fairy left. With a new smile on Atticus' face he was excited to go to school this morning (these days he is rarely excited for school).
Oh, F.Y.I. the cast may be off this next week if the x-ray looks good! He will then wear a boot until July 1! Hallelujah!
