You must live in the present, launch yourself on every wave, find your eternity in each moment. Fools stand on their island opportunities and look toward another land. There is no other land, there is no other life but this.” ~Henry David Thoreau

The CAKE FIGHT!

How do you get people to leave a BBQ Birthday party fast?
......CAKE FIGHT!
It started out as a regular nice BBQ! Nice friends, good food, and then we let Scarlett have her first Birthday Cake! She wasn't sure at first and then toward the end all the kids were covered in frosting! Parents were grabbing their clean kids and then, just like that...it was over!
(Thanks for coming!)

"Yes, we have a REAL LIVE swingset!"

Forget the Slip n slide when we can water down the new slide! Clever!

Though it was a yard sale purchase, Benny put some good hours into making it withstand the crazy wind we can get!
Dean is Happy about the swing set too and the clubhouse is just his size!

End of School Slip n Slide

It's a tradition to get a new slip n slide on the last day of school! This one is called "Hoop of Fire!" They never last all summer so I try to buy them under $30. Scarlett had no hesitations going down herself until the end!
Notice the last photo with the club house I bought at a yard sale for $50! Still needs the slide and swings assembled! I am just thankful Benny wasn't mad that he had to get it here! Good thing for friends with flat bed trucks and a sense of humor! The kids are kind of bored with the invisible trampoline we got last year and their friends are still confused about it too...SO, come on over this should be loads of FUN! Happy Summer!

SCARLETT ELIZABETH !

(click on image to view cuteness!)
Has it really been almost a whole YEAR? 6.23.10
She is getting too big and too cute! We will celebrate on her actual bday in Florida at our family reunion and have a little celebration here before we go!
Where did the year go?!

End of school teacher gifts?

I can never really figure out a good "thanks for being my teacher gift". I feel that the kids should make something or be included in the gift since it is THEIR teacher!
Thank goodness for the Internet!
I did a crayon wreath on my mission and sent it home to my family, so I figure this is pretty close!
In my research I found that the number #2 items you should NEVER give a teacher is
Lotions and Candles. Just an FYI!

SURPRISE!

Cozy's #5 Surprise Birthday Party!
This photo is SO funny! I had the kids practice jumping out and surprising her so many times! Good job Jill for getting the perfect shot!
Olivia hid in the bathroom and was the first to surprise her... hence the toilet in the background!
(I think they scared the color right out of her! Doesn't she look ghostly?)

Then as only my "drama" kid would do, she fell to the floor in shock!

The 10 kids that came were happy that they really surprised her good!
In our family when you turn FIVE you can have a pinata! This was the best face of all of them. Allison determined to crack it!

All the kids were given hugs from Cozy after she opened her gifts...boys included! Her best friend Rylee got some Eskimo kisses!

Candles that would not blow out! BTW: I delegated a ton! Thanks Michelle for making the flower cupcake cake! It was a HIT!

We had a fun dance party in the kitchen, massive hide n seek throughout the house and the rest you can figure out! Just a simple Surprise Party, but lots of FUN!
Also, a good way to avoid the themes she had picked out ..."A night at the Prom"?!

Mary Poppins !

This is my attempt at photo shop. They were actually standing in the parking lot not across from the theater!
My favorite part of the trip, besides the Fabulousness of the show, was watching Cozy in her roller skates all over out hotel room and Atticus as we drove into downtown Seattle say, "Roll down the window so I can smell the sweet city air!"
I think that line came into my head a lot on our trip and it made me giggle!
It was an AWESOME getaway celebrating Cozy turning 5! Thanks mom for sharing the adventure with us!!
