You must live in the present, launch yourself on every wave, find your eternity in each moment. Fools stand on their island opportunities and look toward another land. There is no other land, there is no other life but this.” ~Henry David Thoreau

COZY #3 !

Cozy turned 3 this past Sunday! We have been celebrating it all month long so when Sunday came around we had a small party with just our family. She loved her Kitty rain boots and coat from "Parkina" (my moms cat that somehow started sending postcards and bday gifts...talented A?)..photo below. She wanted a barbie cake like the one she saw on the Farr Blog, but she was happy with a strawberry shortcake one. I am not ready for the Barbie Craze...will I ever be ready? She is also still SO into shoes and so I took her out with her PA & Grandmommy money to buy yet another pair. She must have more than a dozen shoes by now! We love our CozY! Happy Birthday!
For memorial day we went on a hike up on the Chelan Butte and both Benny and I were thrilled that our kids could hike the trail for an hour with out whining! I was happy we didn't see any snakes! We saw some para gliders take off on the top and saw the excitement in Atticus' eyes....Oh no! We enjoyed the later afternoon picnicking down by the lake. I always feel we are on vacation when we go to the lake and then realize, "Cool, we live here!"
Side note: I am a zero, finally! what next?...my blood draws are now only once a month rather than every week. If I stay at zero for 3 times I am in the clear!

YARD SALE

Our town is swarming with "resorters"! Going to the store takes so much longer with all the lines and people. I think they need a "locals" line this time of year. Lots of naked people (or almost)everywhere you go. We had a yard sale this morning instead of going to the lake. Our neighbor had a huge one so we just piggy backed off her advertising and customers. Benny ended up doing it all since 99% of the people who came spoke only Spanish. You know you live in a small town when your doctor is also the guy heckling prices at his yard sale. I use the "you know you live in a small town..." quite a lot lately! So, we made over a hundred dollars and got rid of some big unwanted junk!! We will probably donate most or all of the money to the school playground fund or maybe just more junk. Atticus and Cozy did a great job selling pink lemonade until they decided to use the money to by junk at the other yard sale. That is all.

Garden

Before the plants.

Cozy sings on top of anything.

80 degree day. Sprinkler time.

Purple bed.

Happy Baptism to you!

After getting our garden in all last week (photos above) we headed to Seattle for a "quickie"~ Sunday evening to Monday late. The main reason for going was in support of Maddi's baptism. She is Benny's brother Matt's girlfriend and also his nurse Mel's daughter (she is next to her in yellow). We were honored to be a part of this and both Benny and I caught each other tearful at moments. It was neat to see so many people there, none that we really knew, but tons of singles from her ward, and her family from the area. Benny likes to tease me that I was at Mike & Shelli's wedding reception a year ago telling Matt to come work in Chelan, make some cash and find a girl, hmmm...strange things happen around here!
So, we also got to stay at a nice hotel by the temple, Hotel Sierra, swim in the pool, see Mia for lunch downtown, finally catch up with my college buddy Lucy, and follow in my mom's footsteps and spend too much money on fiesta ware plates. Cozy was in heaven at Nordstrom Rack trying on all the shoes and Atticus enjoyed the after baptism Cheesecake factory. Photo is of him making a drink concoction.
All in all, we had a great time and were happy to be a part of Maddi's special day!!

Scary Potter

When Atticus was 4 we started reading him the Harry Potter books~ not so interested. Kindergarten came and we tried again~ more into what each chapter was named and a a quick cliff note rendition. He really wanted to see the movies, but we decided he was too young and sensitive to see such an intense movie. This past year we have been getting them on netflix and decided to let both kids watch them. I hadn't seen them and thought, "hey they're rated PG, what could be so bad." We just saw Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets Friday and watched it as a family (I know, we are so behind). Atticus was very concerned with Hermione being petrified and actually cried when she came back to life. Cozy named it, "Scary Potter" and drooled as she watched. We thought we'd be up with both of them that night, but surprisingly it didn't happen. Cozy has become obsessed on the other hand. She wants a play date with "Scary Potter" and wants me to "fly the car to Chelan". I really was intrigued by the Mandrake and think I had something like that growing inside of me. Here is what I read about them... they look like tiny babies growing where the roots would be. These creatures grow and develop over the course of several months until they mature and can be harvested and used for potions. The cry of the Mandrake is fatal to humans, so special care must be taken when growing them. Even as a baby, the Mandrake's howls can knock a person out for a couple of hours.
Okay, maybe not. OH and by the way, my number this week is a 5 !

Apple Blossom Festival

I got a new camera for Mother's Day! I had the kids run through the orchards after church to practice some of my skills. The trees were buzzing with bees, so after a few minutes the kids were running around screaming and swatting themselves. Atticus was out of there after a few takes, so it was just Cozy and I.
We also had a great weekend celebrating Manson's Apple Blossom Festival. I am a sucker for parades, but didn't cry this year. I ran the Pig Jig 5k and finished in a time of 30.09! I think that may be my best time since being a mom. It was nice not pushing a stroller up hill while catering to a 2 year old.
Still waiting for that "zero" on my blood draw ...maybe this week?!
Happy Mother's Day!

Happy Numbers!

I wish my blog posts were a little more exciting(so sorry). The fact that I don't have a camera yet makes it a bit boring, plus the fact that not much is going on with us, but that's a good thing in my book, right?
My numbers are coming down fast! As of yesterdays draw I am now at 18!! I think once I hit Zero I will have a "Celebrating Zero" party. When else do you get to celebrate zero, not on a test that's for sure! At church Sunday there was a lot of crying in YW because a lot of our girls will be graduating and going to college. I was the dry eyes in the room. That is very odd for me. I guess when your hormones are out of control for so long they at some point have to max out. So, things are good & I feel great!
This Monday will be a year that Atticus broke his leg at school (photo below of him doing yoga). I will never forget the day...the day after mother's day!! He was such a trooper, but it was another spring event that I wouldn't wish on anyone! I told him he can have the day off...he's thrilled! I'll probably take him to Wenatchee for a Happy Meal and watch him RUN like crazy at the park.
