You must live in the present, launch yourself on every wave, find your eternity in each moment. Fools stand on their island opportunities and look toward another land. There is no other land, there is no other life but this.” ~Henry David Thoreau

So Random

These are just Random thoughts and happenings with the Dame family....

Cozy is going through a 4 year old, almost 5, "independent is bliss" phase. She now wants us to call her "FireBone" or "Fire" for short. I remember Atticus at the same age having us call him "John Hiker" during his hiking days with Dad. I just go with it! She likes black and eats things like nutella & cheese sandwiches, peas with goldfish crackers, and still NO Meat! You get the general idea...independence!
She told Daddy the other night, " I wish you were a Banker so that you wouldn't have to go to the hospital!" This was during a very busy week in which the kids had a 2 day streak without seeing Dad! (Hospital work is over rated, esp. in my opinion, he might as well have been an OB!)
So, we are loving the opinions and spunk of our almost 5 year old, who by the way decided she won't go to kindergarten next year because, "I'm going to stay little by staying home and I don't need to learn to read because Atticus is making an invention that will read things for me!"

Atticus is our "tween". In the age of the pre-teen both Benny and I are getting a taste at what having a real teen may be like! I have told my mom that I may have to ship him to her when he hits his teens. Can I do that now? My mom has always had a "calming" effect on Atticus. It may be one of two things....1) she works with teenage boys on a daily basis that are off the chart into trouble
2) She spent a lot of time with him in his early years when we lived with her and they have a close bond!
Atticus is very determined and such an entertainer in our family! Scarlett adores him to death and Cozy just wants to kill him most of the time! He keeps life interesting and is a deep thinker! I like to think he got his creative and fun side from me and his "thinking outside the box" and energy from his Dad?!

Scarlett is just soaking it all in! She bee lines it to the Legos when she sees Atticus' door open, loves to show you her tongue and what it can do, and is by far the easiest going baby on the planet! She is cruising the couch and may be walking before her first bday!

Benny and I are SO looking forward to the summer in this awesome area! He will be sailing as much as possible and I want to take up paddle boarding! I figure a night out each week with a sitter we can just chill on the boat with dinner and then I can jump ship and do my own thing on the board!
...until then Have a Happy Spring!!! xo H

EASTER

HIGHLIGHTS:
Kept it simple and decided to skip out on the Massive Easter Egg Hunt at Both Manson and Chelan. Had our own that only had enough candy for the kids to eat all in one sitting! They were perfectly thrilled! Spent a beautiful day out working in the garden (Benny got the Dahlias in!)
Did grave rubbings at cemetry waiting for take-out pizza (strange, but fun!)
Got kids in bed early!

note: I dont know why Atticus has his sister's pink rain boots on in this photo! Hope he didn't wear those to church!

APRIL FOOLS

The kids were thrilled to take JUNK food in their lunches along with the same old sandwich and drink! Until they realized the cheetos = baby carrots, fruit snack = grapes, and the raisins = m&m's. Don't you love double stick tape!?
It all played out how I figured, Atticus was more mad since he didn't waste time looking in the raisins to find something sweet and because he wasn't the one tricking. Cozy was pleased with the fruit and veggies and didn't really get the joke until I explained the April Fool day to her!

Later she got it when her dinner was grilled cheese and peas, but really pound cake and frosting & green taffy!
Then she said, "So, what are you doing for breakfast tomorrow!"
and I said, "Honey, this is a one day ordeal!"

This is just funny! Scarlett will stay in the same spot when you put this lightweight laundry basket on her! Its a good time out for when she doesn't want to go to bed!

Cozy wore my ponytail wig and told her preschool she woke up and her hair had grown!

For the kids teachers and Benny's work friends I sent them with DONUT SEEDS (family fun.com). You print out the envelope and put cheerios in it. Super easy is my thing!
It took the kids a while to process that joke when I showed them in the morning!

I'M DONE WITH THIS DAY FOR a COUPLE YEARS AT LEAST!

MARCH

Phew! We made it through the month! Here are some of the highlights....

I reclaimed my dining room, again! No more laptop, art projects, and homework messes!

We bought Cozy her first pair of "Cowgirl" Boots while in Dallas and they are on display until she decides she likes them or until mom can shrink her feet!
Note to self: Buy pricey shoes only for ME!

Atticus had a FUN lego Ninjago party and
1)no one spit on the cake after trying to blow out those crazy candles!

2) no one got hit with a bat!

3) no one cheated playing lego board games!

4) and the BIRTHDAY BOY was happy!

TOO MUCH Pinewood Derby......
This is my Little House Wagon (recycled Indiana Jones from last year)

My LH wagon actually beat Benny's AUDI (mid-life crisis car)

Cozy had a crazy sticker car and Atticus got "BEST IN SHOW" for his Ninjago car

This is the before photo of Atticus' car. He had wings on it which we told him would go into the other lanes and he said, "that's the point!"

And....SCARLETT is getting bigger and cuter than ever before!
